Serving the Poor & Marginalised Since 1971
Established in March 1971 as the Social Welfare Apostolate, the Justice Development and Peace Initiative (JDPI) Maiduguri Diocese was founded by the late Rev. Fr. Dennis Coleman as a response to the Federal Government’s call for national reconstruction following the 1967 Nigerian Civil War.
Formerly known as JDPC Maiduguri, we were renamed in 2024 — reflecting a renewed commitment to evidence-based, community-led programming rooted in Catholic Social Teaching.

Building Sustainable Peace in the Lake Chad Basin
A three-year project targeting 12,000 conflict-affected individuals across 32 communities through dialogue, trauma healing, and early-warning systems.
